While DI (Differentiated Instruction) has been around for 20 years, a Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS, formerly RtI-Response to Intervention) is currently one of the most talked about initiatives in education. DI and a Multi-Tier System of Support have some similarities. Both focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment, although sometimes in different ways. Flexible timing and grouping are embedded and learning experiences are planned for in a systematic and intentional way. Both put students at the center of teaching. These similarities make sense, yet the practical side of our brains asks: How do I implement these practices? What does it really look like in the classroom? How do I manage everything? We invite you to join us in a 3-part series as we weave together and merge these two initiatives into an effective learning environment for all students.
Session 1 – Connecting DI and A Multi-Tier System of Support, Session 2 – Collecting Instructional and Management Strategies, Session 3 - Advancing Learning into the 21st Century
