 Playing with words engages students and allows them to interact with words in ways that support learning. Not only does play enhance motivation, but it helps to create lasting neural connections necessary for memory and retrieval. In session 2 you will learn more new strategies to build vocabulary while having fun. Join us in exploring what it means to really “know and remember a word”. You will walk away with activities to provide multiple exposures in multiple ways. Play is the purpose.

 Outcomes: You will leave having:

  • Learned the principals for word selection;
  • Gathered varied techniques such as movement, looking for patterns, memory, and poetry for vocabulary instruction;
  • An easy transition of strategies from learning session to  practice in your workplace; and
  • Re-newed energy from sharing a learning experience with your professional peers.

Presenter(s): Ann Pike, M.Ed. is a consultant for the Western Maine Partnership. Ms. Pike has served as a regional director for SEED, a statewide regionalized initiative. She designs and delivers professional learning opportunities statewide that range from coaching school districts in their professional development events, to designing statewide institutes and graduate level courses. She will commit to designing and facilitating regional work and professional development.

You will be expected to pay if you do not attend and cannot provide printed confirmation of your cancellation.
